First and foremost, we are a circle of women supporting one another’s spiritual practice comprised of scholars, artists, healers, seidkonas, volur, and leaders in our communities. We welcome all women and female-identified members of the LGBTQ community interested in practicing our faith. Together, we teach, guide, and provide assistance to women on the path of contemporary Heathenry, which is reconstructed and revitalized from the Norse-Germanic traditions of pre-Christian Europe. Moreover, we understand that in order to thrive, our faith must acknowledge that many are called to this path regardless of heritage. This is not a debatable point for us. It is part of our core value system, and as women who are spiritual adherents and listeners to the High Ones, we lay this truth at our foundation.

Our circle provides mentorship, yearly academic-focused conferences, and workshops hosted by HWU members around the world. We are also creating a series of tours to sacred sites that focus on retreat and practice. We utilize social media, website forums and other conference platforms in an effort to include even the most isolated women in our circle. If you’re a woman whose values align with ours, we hope you’ll join us.

Grants: For Heathen women to further projects that assist their communities. Examples might be a grant to purchase books for a school library, assist with a program to support veterans, or address the needs of a women’s shelter.

Scholarships: To provide a source of funding for scholars focusing on historic or modern women in Heathen contexts. Can be used for travel or support funds.

Micro-Loans: Together with mentorship, these would be used to assist Heathen women developing businesses to provide a sustainable income for themselves and their families.

Pastoral Outreach: Through our network, this might encompass both emergency financial need and non-financial need and would cover a broad range of issues from children’s clothes, to paying a utility bill, to offering a helping hand to women who are moving house.

Please Note: These opportunities are restricted to HWU members and their families. HWU has strict membership policies that hold a ‘zero tolerance’ stance for racism, “white pride,” or any form of homophobia or bigotry. Funding for these opportunities comes from the various HWU endeavors, created to support Heathen women and address social and economic injustice. Many endeavors offer both work and apprenticeship opportunities for women to gain job skills and experience.
